Adding to the List

Seth's allergy to all things dairy has been well documented. Now that I'm a diligent food label reader, I am amazed at all the foods that contain some form of milk. Seth is tired of baby food, but the milk thing really limits what I can give him. Tonight I thought we'd give scrambled eggs a try...

Guess we won't be trying those again anytime soon. I think I'm going to buy stock in the company that makes Benadryl...

Oh no!!!!!! Poor baby. I am guessing you didn't put milk in the scrambled eggs. So, are you going to have to start reading labels for eggs too? Lily has a classmate, this year and last year, who is allergic to nuts, wheat, and dairy. Last year they tested him and he has outgrown the milk allergy. That means he gets to be at the regular allergy table at lunch, not his own extra special table where the kids had to practically walk through a milk scanner! Poor kid.

Poor kid! Welcome to the allergy club, it stinks! But it does get easier once you get used to it.

SOOO sad! Have you checked with Erin to see what they did with Maggie and her milk allergy? Do we have to keep him away from eggs too?
He sure is a cute miserable baby!

Poor little guy!! hopefully he enjoyed the eggs while he could! I agree with your mom. Even covered in hives, he is still adorable as ever! :)

Oh my gosh, that poor little guy! I hate allergic reactions! That looks like Saylor when he used to drink baby formula. Thank goodness for Benedryl! I agree with your Mom and Brooke, he looks miserable, but still adorable! :)

Have you tried giving him almond milk, or cooking with it? My kids really like it, and I use it all the time.

We used applesauce instead of eggs in our cooking. It works well in cake mixes, muffins, pancakes, etc.-not so much in brownies, though. Its true-it does get easier once you get used to it. The first few months takes forever at the grocery store reading labels, but you learn which brands you can use. The problem with milk allergies is it encompasses so much more than just "milk" on a label! I want to kiss that cute little face, poor baby.

How crazy is this--I just took Seth to the Dr. for shots. Randomly, right before the nurse administered them, Hunter said "Seth is allergic to milk." I said, "Yes, that's right. And eggs now too." The nurse gasped and said she was so glad Hunter brought that up, because kids who are allergic to eggs can't have the flu shot--they can have near deadly reactions to it. Thanks Hunter!

It's too late on the Benadryl stock thing. We already bought most of it. :) But hang in there. My Lizzy did outgrow some of her food allergies.

That is too crazy that you just said that about the shots. As soon as you said he was at the Dr. to get shots I thought to myself "He can't have the flu shot!!!" Good thing Hunter spoke up! He is adorable- even with his allergic reactions.

I seriously was going to leave you a post that said now he can't have a flu shot. Then I thought, she probably knows that. Glad Hunter said something.
