You Asked For It

I've been getting requests for pictures of the finished fireplace. To refresh your memory, this is the before...

I can't take pictures of entire rooms yet because my shutters aren't in. I still wouldn't call the fireplace completely finished, because I've got some spots to fill in on the mantle, (I need some greenery on the right and another chunky candlestick on the left) but here it is now...

I love it! I mean I really love it. Every time I see it, without fail, I think "Dang that's a beautiful fireplace." And then I think, "Maybe I should go to design school..." Lol. I wish I could take all the credit, but I should give props to my remodeling guru Frankie for the install and my neighbor Sean for the amazing mantle. You can't tell from my pics, but the mantle is stained to match the floor.

I've been wondering lately how to combine elements of design with elements of family therapy so I can dabble in both worlds. Environment has such a huge impact on our feelings and abilities to manage life and cope with struggles. I think everyone needs at least one spot in their homes that makes them breathe a sigh of relief instead of an exasperated sigh. What's that spot for you? If you don't have one, let me know. I'll work one up for you ;) .

That's what I haven't figured out yet. I've been planning to get my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy, but I'm kinda diggin the design stuff too, so I'm wondering if I can think of a creative, therapeutic way of combining the two.

This is awesome! I love it.

I'm in Tulsa right now and while I'm glad you've got a place of your own now, I'm sad you're not here to hang out with!

There's no way I'm getting a Sprittle without you! *blech*

April and I have been looking for a little indoor waterfall and placing it just above the fireplace. Our Mantle is real deep because our fireplace is in a corner. April loves the sound of trickeling water and has been wanting to do something about the empty space in her mantle for years. I love the idea because every time I see her around water sounds her stress just melts away.

I am not sure I have a place...any suggestions?! I think the closest I get is when I crawl into bed at night and there is silence in the house. Is that sad?!
