Aging Gracefully

About 4 months ago I bought a Wii balance board so I could kick up my fitness routine a notch. I love yoga, but getting to a class on a regular basis has proved elusive, so the Wii Fit seemed like a good alternative. It's been gathering dust ever since I bought it. Now that Aunt Ami is here, we decided to dust it off and get it going.

We now have our profiles set up and we've done all the preliminary testing to get started. The balance test was particularly revealing. It's "not my forte", to quote the Wii, and resulted in a Wii Fit age of 41!! If I can go off on a tangent, this actually explains a lot. I'm constantly hitting my head on things. I lose my pinky toenails about twice a year from catching them on the couch as I walk by. Two of my toenails are crooked from being ripped off so many times. Random, unexplained bruises show up all the time. I stab my shoulder on the corner of the stair railing at least once a week, and just last week while brushing the pool at 7 am, I took one misplaced step backwards and fell in, fully clothed. It was cold.

So apparently I'm not all that aware of my physical self.

Anyway, I was so appalled by my age that we've joked about it around the house quite a bit the last two days. My fixation hasn't escaped Hunter's notice. Today, he came up to me and asked me how old he is. "You're 4," I answered, surprised that he needed to ask. "No," he responded, "in Wii years."

You are not alone, Brenda. Mike landed in the pool last week too. He held onto the pole, hoping he could walk on water. It was hilarious. You are officially a pool owner now!

Although I have never (and may have paid money to see it!) fell into a pool fully clothed, I totally know what you mean. I turn corners too soon and run into things, bash my knee on the shower door, I even open a screen door on my parents front door right into my forehead. Does that make you feel any better? I have ZERO coordination and am not smooth at all!

I jammed my foot so hard into the shower it pains me still to think about it. You know how cartoons jar something and the vibrate... yuck I just got the willies. I have not fallen in the pool but it did put a smile on my face reading your blog. That is always funny. Anyway another funny one is my friend in high school actually shut a van door on her own head. She was inside the car. Awesome.

You know, whenever I think about you- those are not things I think about. But now that you mention it, as long as I have known you- you have done those sorts of things. And trust me- we have known each other a LONG time...more than a quarter of a century. (Does that make you feel older than the Wii age? LOL)

You should talk to anyone who has lived on a Navy Ship. I don't care who you are. You'll hit your head some many times it will make you feel like you belong in an insane asylum... Talking from personal experience of course... LOL
