Recently I was talking to a new friend of mine about my well-documented boy drama. She could relate to the situation in a way most people can't: she is about the same age I am and her husband was killed in an accident about a month before Matt. We don't know each other well, but it's amazing how clued-in you can become to someone else's life when you share something of that magnitude. Her parting words to me were: "Well, sounds like you better call your contractor friend and remodel something."
Oh yeah, she's got me pegged. Every bout of extreme boredom and loneliness in the last year and a half has been followed by remodeling or creating of some kind. But I didn't think it was fair to start another project when I still haven't blogged pics of the remodel a very lonely Christmas and New Year brought on. While it wasn't the first element of the last phase of remodeling, I'll start with the laundry room.
BEFORE:
Boring, bland laundry room with absolutely no wow factor and even less storage...seriously uninspiring...
When I had the crown moulding ripped out of the piano room to do the ceiling in there (another post, sorry!) I had the carpenters move it into the laundry room and powder room. Crown moulding in the laundry room...*sigh*
I had these knobs custom painted for the cabinetry. How fun are those?! Since I took these pictures they have been installed on the cabinets. A friend stopped by the other day and said "These are SO you!" That's one of my favorite compliments, when people see really cute stuff and say it makes them think of me.

Did I tell you I looked for the Laundry sign I wanted? It wasn't exactly what I wanted. So- I'm still on the lookout. Never fear!
I want that room....it is nicer than my living room
Wow, maybe I would be inspired to love laundry if my laundry room looked like that! Love it!!
I have never seen black beadboard but I love it! Also the dark cabinet above the washer and dryer...love it...Love it all!! can't wait to see the rest of the remodeling you have done. I just need to make a trip back just to come see you the boys and the house? sounds like a perfect excuse for a mom getaway before Avery is born. :0)
I agree with you on the laundry bit, I'd rather do that than any other household chore and love the systematic feel to it!
WOW - I've never seen a laundry room like that - it's soooooo cool!!! I love laundry, too - I'm glad I found someone else like me! I love how it's something I feel like I can actually accomplish and finish and it feels like everbody gets new clothes for the week!
I still hate laundry but i LOVE your laundry room and the rest of your house for that matter.
K. So I REALLY liked your before! Until I saw the after!!! STUNNING! I LOVE the knobies! AND the crown moulding...AND I LOVE that you did black beadboard! (I'm a big fan of beadboard. Lol). Good work!!! You are too funny! ;)
If I had a laundry room like that then maybe I would actually DO my laundry! Love it love it love it, and it is sooooo you!
do you think your contractor friend could make my laundry room look like that? So where is your next project...i Have to dream thru your projects you know!
Wow wow wow. So fabuloso
As much as I love my laundry room (and I really do)... I wish that I shared the same love for actually DOING the laundry! haha In fact, my man needs his G's washed, so maybe I auta throw in a load... hehe
Love, love, love the wainscotting and crown... beautiful and striking in black.
Oh my!! I love the Black bead board! (Is that what it's called) That is like my DREAM laundry room!! I would put a chair in there and just sit! :) SO fun! Im happy for you!
Three things I love:
1) the beadborad--we have it through our whole entry I. love. it.
2) crown molding. We have it everywhere but the closets at my insistence. So much that the builder made fun of us.
3) laundry. I love pulling last night's jammies out of the dryer by 10:00 am or the day's outfit before bed. I love chores where you can tell you made progress.
I hope you have a great day!
GORGEOUS!!!! And all these happy posts about laundry are giving me motivation to tackle that monster and make it my friend :)
So cute! Can I just say I LOVE reading your blog? You make me laugh and cry all at the same time. You're awesome!
