It has enough black speckling in the marble/granite to compliment the floors but still stand out. It also has a hearth to catch the sparks when the fire pops or ashes when you are cleaning it out!Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04190561501190804078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543859506186914619.post-74794644499420127772009-05-06T19:05:00.000-07:002009-05-06T19:05:00.000-07:00I would go with one of the first two. I do like the statement that the third one makes; HOWEVER, both of our houses have had rock fireplace and they are a pain in the butt. Not versatile at all if you redesign your space plus they get dusty easily and are HARD TO CLEAN well! I would never buy a house with a rock fireplace again. Plus when you clean out the fireplace ashes are bound to get on the grout and rock.....never to look the same again! Just my opinion being the unhappy owner of a giant rock fireplace!!Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04190561501190804078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543859506186914619.post-18482360917960719682009-05-06T13:27:00.000-07:002009-05-06T13:27:00.000-07:00I'm with Amber about the stone wall. It will make a dramatic statement but will still be inviting and comfortable.Staci Kramerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15007515243691153943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543859506186914619.post-70908836944327030832009-05-05T16:17:00.000-07:002009-05-05T16:17:00.000-07:00I say #3 too. Although the stone is gorgeous, I think you might find it dated in a few year or it could be limiting if you want to change your decor a few years from now. A mantle or even paint is easy to change, but have you ever ripped off a rock wall. NOT FUN! Good luck!Pepple https://www.blogger.com/profile/04076855284985684241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543859506186914619.post-86325814484362914762009-05-05T12:11:00.000-07:002009-05-05T12:11:00.000-07:00I like the third one as well. I put 2 links below that have pics of it in the posts. Not the greatest pics though. That is exciting for you! We put in really dark floors as well, not quite black but still dark. Just be prepared for them to almost never look clean when the sun shines on them! :)

http://eandbsanders.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-eve-celebration.html

http://eandbsanders.blogspot.com/2008/12/now-it-really-is-beginning-to-look-lot.htmlBrookehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16716316295049512924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543859506186914619.post-71867160698322314932009-05-05T08:41:00.000-07:002009-05-05T08:41:00.000-07:00I would say the 2nd or 3rd but I can definitely se...I would say the 2nd or 3rd but I can definitely see what you are saying to add a darker stone which would look amazing with Black Tulip hardwood floors. The exact floors I want in my home when we get it bought...hopefully sometime soon! Or even a white or cream stone would look amazing with the dark wood floors. Also depends on the the color of the walls but if you are going with the suede color I would stick with darker stones. I like the 2nd picture only if the stone inset and on the floor was not black. Too much of a contrast for me. I would go with a multi-colored small stone. I will have to find a picture to show you what I mean. Either way GOOD LUCK!!Gardner Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10564569124440314458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543859506186914619.post-15885158373281518622009-05-05T08:17:00.000-07:002009-05-05T08:17:00.000-07:00Personally, I like the first one.
